Perhaps you noticed that I did not post a Found It Friday article this past Friday. I wasn’t ignoring you all. I promise. Last Thursday I traveled home to go camping with my family and my family’s friends for the weekend. I was kept quite busy, and let’s just say there would have been absolutely no way to get Wi-Fi in the woods!
So in lieu of Friday’s post , I thought I’d share a little bit of my weekend with you…
I know I preach all the time about how in order to feel good about yourself on the inside then you must take care of yourself on the outside by eating right, working out, getting dressed, grooming and doing a little primping. BUT, every now and again, it’s nice to take a little break from it all.
I didn’t wear makeup ALL weekend. I spent most of the weekend with my bathing suit on. My hair was either in a hat or tied up in a pony. And I indulged in plenty of my dad’s campfire breakfasts, lunches, dinners, snacks, s’mores and alcohol. Do I feel guilty about it? No. Should I feel guilty about it? Absolutely not.
If I were depressed, hauled up in my apartment and binge eating and drinking while looking and feeling like crap then that’s a problem. BUT, this…..this was not a problem. This was a break. A time enjoy some time with my family and friends. A time to laugh. A time to indulge and not worry what my makeup looked like or if my hair was ok. All of us were all natural the whole weekend and it felt refreshing and was a nice little break.
I think it’s just as important to have these little breaks in life as it is to take care of yourself on a daily basis. Just make sure you know the difference between whether you are rejuvenating or whether you are allowing yourself to be unhealthy and stuck in a rut. I’ve been in both and it’s VERY important to know the difference!
